Una nota de la Sra. Larson/ A note from Mrs. Larson
Hello McKinley Mustangs,
What an amazing week! As always, there were so many exciting events. I spend many days admiring the wonderful experiences our students are getting every day. I was able to watch the cutest ABC fashion show put on by our Kindergarten class. The buddies are a huge hit and it's wonderful to watch our oldest students mentor the younger ones. Finally, we ended the week with our biggest Jog-a-thon to date! The kids were so excited. Over $60,000 raised. I am truly blown away by how our community comes together.
First, let's start off by applauding the AMAZING efforts of our Jog-a-thon leads:
Renee McArdle and Nina Jarnum
We also had many working behind the scenes:
Thank you, Joe Stern, Staci Stern, Kelly Pounds, and Carrie Harrison for counting and recording all that money!
Thank You Channon Cederna For the Amazing T-shirt designs.
Thank You Tricia Young for the beautiful balloon arch!
Thank You to Clover Sonoma and our very own Kristel Corson who coordinated hundreds of yummy smoothies for after the students ran.
Thank you Chris Lum for live streaming the event and for taking all of the amazing pictures at the event!
Thank you to our parent volunteers who went out there with signs to dance and promote this event!
Thank you, PTA you make our school AMAZING!
PACS 7th / 8th Grade Camp
Hello PACS Families!

Because of planning and refund purposes, if guidelines are not changed by January 7th, we will NOT be attending camp.
Please read the information outlined below regarding the trip.
Please read the information listed below and complete the linked survey.

PCS Covid-19 Field Trip Guidance - LINK
Camp requires proof of a NEGATIVE test 72 hours before arriving at camp for ALL participants.
PCS requires that ALL participants (chaperones/students/teachers) MUST have a completed COVID vaccination.
Mask will be worn during camp except inside the student cabins and during mealtime.
A daily health screening will take place each morning (temperature and questionnaire).
We will need 1 chaperone for every 7 students.
We will NOT be able to go if we don’t have enough chaperones.
We’ll need about 19 chaperones.
8th needs 4 females and 5 males
7th needs 6 females and 4 males
Currently, chaperones will need to be vaccinated and have a PCS fingerprint clearance. Once chaperones are determined, we’ll work with them for the needed information.

Students have to ride on PCS buses to and from camp. If there is extra space, chaperones may ride on the buses.
Cost of Camp:
The cost of the camp will be $450 per student. This can be paid as a lump sum or payments can be made over the course of the school year.
Make checks payable to McKinley School.
The cost of camp covers lodging, food, camp staff/facilities, chaperones, transportation.
If camp is canceled, payments will be refunded.
Students who don't attend camp will attend regular school, on-campus during normal school hours.

Classified Job Fair
Upcoming Classified Job Fair - 10/11/21
Have you ever thought about working in education and making a difference in the lives of children in our community? Consider a job with us at Petaluma City Schools! We will be hosting an in-person Job Fair on October 11th from 3-6 PM in the Family Resource Center at McDowell Elementary.
This job fair is for all classified positions, which means positions that are not teaching positions, including bus drivers, food services staff, instructional assistants, and more! You can find a list of all of our open classified positions on EdJoin here. We have both full-time as well as flexible part-time positions. For us to best serve students, we need the community's help in getting fully staffed. If you aren't looking for yourself, please share this information with someone you know!
Please wear a mask and bring your resume! We hope to see you there!
Student Voice Forums
Recently, the Sonoma County Office of Education organized Student Voice Forums in an attempt to understand a variety of perspectives on our schools. In the same vein, PCS is organizing several secondary student voice forums to allow students to share their life experiences with our community of learners. Our first of several student forums will take place on November 16, 2021 at 6:00 PM and will highlight our Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) students. These forums are a great venue to hear directly from our BIPOC student community. If you are a student who is interested in sitting on the panel and sharing your thoughts, please contact our District Wellness Coordinator, Jimena Gomez, at email@example.com.
School Pictures and Make up picture day
Thank you for a fantastic Jog-a-thon!
Thank you so much for a very successful Jog-a-thon. We hit our $60,000 goal with your support. Stay tuned for updates about all the incentives your students earned once the numbers are finalized!
The funds we raised will go a long way to support every child and classroom at McKinley school and PACS.
If you haven’t dropped off your cash and check donations yet, please do so on Monday morning.
We would also like to thank Clover Sonoma for providing delicious smoothies for the kids after their runs, our Jog-a-thon chairs, Renee McArdle and Nina Jarum Walters for organizing this event, and all the teachers and volunteers who helped us get the word out about the fundraiser in the last few weeks.
Did you know that the McKinley PTA provides funds for programs and initiatives that support every student and classroom at McKinley/PACS?
We are so proud to have been able to support McKinley / PACS by providing funds for a bilingual instructional assistant for the lower grades, funding classroom supply stipends for every teacher, purchasing water filling and hand washing stations for the school campus, hosting events throughout the year for all our families, and much more! See our full list of accomplishments.
You can help us on our mission!
Joining the PTA is a great way for you to provide input about our initiatives and funding priorities. The McKinley PTA welcomes members from all our school families, including those who cannot afford the cost of membership. Membership for the school year is $10 and we offer sponsored memberships.
