Supplemental Pay
This is a reminder that the first of two supplemental payments approved by the Board for 2016-2017 will be paid on the December 16, 2016 paycheck for employees who meet the following conditions:
1. Were employed by SBISD by October 1, 2016 and are continuously employed until December 1, 2016,
2. Are in good standing,
3. Serve full-time in their position, and
4. Are not employed as a Temporary or Substitute employee.
The payment will be based on the employee’s base pay in effect on October 1, 2016. The supplemental pay will be included on the employee’s regular December 16, 2016 paycheck, but will be listed as a separate line item on their payroll advice. The supplemental pay will not be considered by TRS as creditable compensation, so the TRS employee contribution of 7.7% will not be deducted from this amount. The only deductions from the supplemental pay will be Federal taxes and Medicare.
Employees will see the normal Federal tax deduction unless the supplemental pay bumps the employee into a higher tax bracket.
This payment represents 1% of base pay with a minimum of $250. The second payment will be paid on June 16, 2017.
Super Kids - Sharing Opportunity for SBISD Schools
SBISD is partnering with the National Football League, the Houston Texans, the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee and Verizon for Super Kids – Super Sharing, a project that puts books, sports equipment and school supplies into the hands of our schools and students. You are invited to join in this effort!
Participating schools can participate in one of two ways: (1) by collecting new or lightly used books, sports equipment, school supplies and games in early January or (2) by requesting to be a beneficiary of other schools’ collection efforts to direct to students in need.
A Super Kids collection event will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Houston Texans YMCA, located at 5202 Griggs Road, Houston, TX 77021. Several students and coordinators from each participating school will be invited to attend and deliver the items collected at their school. A Texans player and cheerleaders, along with representatives from the NFL and Houston Super Bowl Host Committee will be on hand to greet and thank students and coordinators. Students will help sort donated items, then enjoy play activities provided by the Texans.
TEAM LEADERS
Let me know whether your team is interested in participating. If we have enough interest as a school, we will definitely participate.
