Valentine's Day Party
As a reminder, we are unable to have siblings at our holiday party. Also, if you have signed up to bring food, please make sure the label indicates no tree nuts or peanuts. Tree nuts also include coconut (as stated by the FDA in 2006). We also ask that you make sure to bring store bought food (nothing homemade). Thank you!
All food requested by our classroom parents has been signed up for, but it looks like we are still in need of volunteers to help set up the party and volunteers to help serve food. Please click on the link below to sign up if you are available to help. We appreciate you!

3rd Grade STAAR Information
Monday, May 9th
-STAAR Math
Tuesday, May 10th
-STAAR Reading
At Glenhope, we don't believe in the "drill and kill" method as some other schools may do, therefore, we don't teach to the test. Instead, we follow the state of Texas curriculum standards (TEKS) which are aligned to the STAAR test. We work hard to develop students to become lifelong learners, global citizens, problem solvers, and effective collaborators.
We do understand that they will have to take this test and we do not want them to feel uncomfortable with it. Throughout the remainder of the year, we will sparingly give students reading and math STAAR passages. The purpose is for them to become familiar with the format and also learn helpful test taking strategies. Last week, students took the 3rd grade released STAAR Reading from last year and this week, they took a math test that was similar to the STAAR Math that was given last year. We wanted students to get a sense of what the test would actually be like and also give ourselves a chance to gauge where they all are currently. We can now move forward with the understanding on how to better help them prepare over the next three months.
We are unable to send the practice tests home but will have them available for you to view in a few weeks at student-led conferences. If you would like to know how your child did on the practice STAAR tests before then, please let us know and we'd be happy to give you the information.
Student-Led Conferences
Visiting Old Red!
1. Trip date: Wednesday, February 10th
2. We will be departing school at 9:00am and returning approximately at 2:00pm
3. Students will need to bring a snack lunch to school that day (the cafeteria can make a sack lunch if needed)
4. Students will need to wear comfortable shoes, a gator shirt OR green/blue, and at least a light jacket
5. 20 chaperones will be joining us on the trip, which makes about 1 chaperone for about 4 students
We are so excited!
