Gayl Bowser works as an independent consultant who focuses on the integration of technology into educational programs of students with disabilities. She provides consultation, training, and technical assistance throughout the United States and internationally. She is a member of the leadership team of the Quality Indicators for Assistive Technology (QIAT) Consortium and a former OTAP Coordinator.

The Communication Matrix is a no-cost, online expressive language assessment tool which describes expressive communication skills of individuals with complex communication needs. In part one of this two-part series, we will review several examples of Communication Matrix profiles and discuss ways that the profile can be used to describe current communication, show progress in small increments, compare results with parents, develop IEP goals and research information about the communication patterns of others with similar disabilities.
