Girls Can Do: Event Opportunity from Natashya
On Sunday, April 17th we will be hosting an event in Denver at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. We are expecting 2,000 people to attend, with the majority of attendees being girls. The half-day event includes opportunities for girls to engage with eight to ten women speakers and also meet a group of local organizations that have after school programming for girls. Our target audience is middle and high school girls with a special emphasis on girls in underserved communities who may not have access to our events.
We would personally like to invite you, your staff and students to join us at the event. All girls are free and regular registration is $25.00.
Because the event is on a Sunday, we may be able to help with transportation for groups of students that would like to join together and attend. To encourage support for individuals we have created an “Event Captain” volunteer program. This means one person takes responsibility for bringing a group of girls and everyone comes for free. You can read more about and sign-up it on our website on our volunteer page. Also, please feel free to email me with any questions at Natasha@girls-can-do.org.

WCO RUBRICS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
The World Class Education Department will be offering professional development sessions for World Class Outcome (WCO) Rubrics during the week of June 6th at Create Something Great (CSG.) These sessions, titled, “WCO Rubrics: Progress Monitoring High Level Skills” allow educators to explore the new WCO Rubrics, as well as discover how these rubrics naturally integrate into your practice and encourage student collaboration and ownership. In addition, the rubrics support performance/authentic assessment within a Balanced Assessment System. Teachers can register for CSG as individuals or as teams. Contact Sandra Barrett and Amy Corr for questions.
Principles of Differentiation (Full Day)
Teachers must attend in teams of two or more (general education teacher and specialist). They will be individually signed up by the PD department (Elizabeth Daly and Jenifer Nerwin). Subs will be provided through Title II funding.
Course Desc: (6 hrs)
In this course participants will explore the principles of differentiation and evaluate the implications of differentiation on their own practice.
