AVID 10 Classes
Mrs. Luthke's AVID 10 elective students have been identifying and studying school, community, national and world problems this marking period. The final project of the unit involved using Adobe Spark to create impactful public service announcements about student-selected problems. The project required students to practice the core AVID WICOR strategies--writing, inquiry (research), collaboration, organization, and reading. Students produced PSAs which brought attention to serious problems such as domestic violence, teen depression, drug addiction, bullying, and homelessness.
Summer Programming for Students

Due to the need for student devices to be updated, reassigned, and replaced, we will be collecting junior-senior high student Chromebooks starting Wednesday, June 16. Students are expected to return both a district issued Chromebook and charger. Students who plan on participating in remote summer programming should keep their devices.
Remote students who are not participating in remote summer programming should return their Chromebook and charger on Wednesday, June 16 from 1:00-2:30 in student lobby entrance by the gold cafeteria. Please contact studenthelp@woodburysch.com with any student Chromebook concerns or questions.

News from 21st Century Thundering Herd
Congratulations to 21st Century’s first two Extraordinary Achievement Award winners. These students have gone above and beyond during a very turbulent time. They will receive their framed award as well as a bag filled with prizes from 21st Century, Success 1st, and the Woodbury Public Library.
Ella Davis is a remarkable 7th grader. Not only has she participated in the 21st Century after-school program consistently, but she has also become a leader as the Vice President of our Blue Blazers. She co-led our Thinking Big sessions, interviewing special guests, and leading students to set goals and make plans to help achieve them. She is also a leader in the community and is a student liaison for Woodbury Heart & Soul. She wrote meditation music as part of our Making Music program which you can listen to here. We can’t wait to see what you do next year Ella!
Raymond Gordon-Johnson is a 7th grader who never quits! He has the highest attendance for 21st Century for the year, over 100 days! He has been a consistent participant in all activities and is the secretary for our Blue Blazers. He was the lead student in creating our very successful school-wide Among Us Tournament. He even shared his experience as part of 21st Century’s presentation at this year’s statewide afterschool celebration Soaring Beyond Expectations 2021. Great job Raymond! !
