On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at 8:00 AM, Lakeville South will be offering the opportunity for all 11th Grade students to take the ACT Exam. The test will take approximately 4 hours. COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place. All Juniors are automatically enrolled for this test free of charge. In order for us to prepare and make plans for this, we need to know if your son or daughter will or will not be participating in this event. Please complete the attached form and submit it before Wednesday, January 13. Thank you.
Senior Grad Ads--FREE for 2021 LSHS Yearbook!!!
With everything going on this school year, the yearbook program decided to make all Grad Ads (baby pics) free to the first 250 seniors/parents who submit them to the yearbook email account. Grad Ads are one of the most popular sections of the annual LSHS Yearbook! This is a chance for parents or guardians to publish a baby picture of a senior along with a personal message to the student. Below are some examples from the 2020 Yearbook.
Procedure:
1. Send an email to lshsyearbook@isd194.org.
2. The email subject should be your student’s name followed by Grad Ad (e.g. “Billy Johnson’s Grad Ad”).
3. Digitally scan an appropriate color or black & white photo of your senior as an infant or toddler. Please save as the largest jpeg file size possible and include your student’s name on the file. We reserve the right to crop your photo to fit the allotted space. 4. Attach the photo file to the email.
5. Type a message (NO LONGER than 40 words) to your student in the body of your email.
6. There is limited space for the Grad Ads--the first 250 will be published in the book (on a first-come, first-served basis).
*Did you already send a check with an early-order Grad Ad? All checks previously sent in for the grad ads will not be cashed and will be canceled.
Seniors: Job Shadow
As a component of the Career Portfolio, the job shadow is a required activity for graduation from the Lakeville Area Public Schools. Seniors are typically given the time out of school on Opportunities Day to complete this assignment. This year we will be using March 2nd as the official day set aside for Seniors to do this, or one of the other new alternate activity choices for the Class of 2021. There is some flexibility with this date, but you are not to miss distance learning class time for completion of this activity, so feel free to start your planning during any upcoming time-off from classes.
Please visit the Career Center’s Senior Job Shadow Assignment page for more details, including overall completion timelines and instructions. A link is also included on your Senior Information section off the LSHS home page. If you have any questions or need some assistance, please consult Julie Peterson in the Career Center or check with your Dean. Good luck!

Student Support
In light of the recent events at the Capital we know that some of our students have uneasy feelings. Our teachers at LSHS stand by to listen and help students process their feelings and connect students to our Student Support Services / Dean if they are experiencing any type of anxiety. Remember, together we are stronger. Lean on each other and look to each other for strength.
Students are invited to attend the Student Voices meeting on Wednesday if they would like a safe place to process the events at the Capital.
LSHS Speech Club Recruitment
Public speaking is one of the most important life skills to learn. No matter what career you are interested in pursuing, having public speaking skills is an asset.
If you’re interested in joining the Speech team, you’ll get the chance to compete in a variety of categories with different schools in the Twin Cities area. The two main categories in Speech are Public Address (PA) and Interpretive.
PA usually involves more serious topics and is most similar to a speech you might give in class. Interp pieces are more humorous and lighthearted and are often taken from plays, poetry and books. No matter what category you’re interested in pursuing, speech is a great way to meet new friends and it will look amazing on your college resume.
Please contact Head Coach Deserea Niemann for more information at niem1907@isd194.org
We will have an informational meeting on Tuesday, Jan 12 at 3pm via WebEx. Please send your info to Coach Niemann so she can add you to the meeting.
