STUDENTS DOING GREAT
CCAMS CLIPPER CAPTAINS ANNUAL NEW STUDENT AND STAFF PANCAKE BREAKFAST
The Clipper Captains organized and prepared 300+ pancakes early this morning for over 55 new students and staff this year to the Middle School. The Clipper Captains served the pancakes and juice and sat with the new students.
Clipper Captains is a leadership group that started last year and continues to grow with over 80 students currently involved. The pancake breakfast is one of many things they do to welcome students - they truly make the Middle School a great place to be!!

COMMUNICATIONS
REMIND - ARE YOU CONNECTED TO YOUR ACCOUNT?
Remind is communication tool that teachers and building administrators can use to communicate with you regarding your child(ren), building events, tests, appointment reminders, etc. You can receive notifications, emails, and/or text messages - depending on how you set-up your account.
As part of this rollout, official accounts were created for all the educators, parents, and students at each one of our schools. You should have received an email or text message from Remind in late August. All you need to do is follow the steps in the message to finish setting up your account. Your student's classes will be attached to your account. Also, you can receive messages in your preferred language. As long as the teacher is receiving replies, you can also send messages back in your preferred language, and they’ll automatically be translated into the teacher’s preferred language. Learn more about how to send a translated message here.
What email is used for my Remind account?
Remind accounts are generated from the information in PowerSchool (our student information system). The email address that you have listed there is the one that will be used for your Remind account. An email cannot be used for more than one account.
I have multiple accounts, what do I do?
Two accounts aren’t better than one. If you’ve used Remind in the past and think you might have multiple accounts, make sure to merge them so everything lives in the same place.
How will I receive communication through Remind?
Students and families can choose between email, text messages, and app notifications to receive messages sent by teachers and schools. Once logged into Remind from a computer or smart phone, students and families can pick the way they want to receive the communications in their settings.
What type of communication will I receive through Remind?
Teachers and schools will typically use Remind for important announcements (upcoming testing, end-of-semester deadlines, school events) and for keeping in touch regarding homework and grades. It may also be used on field trips, or by coaches to organize their teams.
Is there a cost associated with using Remind?
Clear Creek Amana CSD pays for premium Remind accounts for all our users. However, if you elect to receive messages via text, there may be an associated cost from your service provider. If you do not wish to incur these costs, you can set your preferences on remind.com to receive email notifications only.

SCHOOL THERAPISTS UPDATES
SUICIDE PREVENTION MONTH
As Suicide Prevention Awareness Month comes to an end, it is important to recognize suicide does not discriminate. Students no matter what their race, identity, family income, involvement in extracurricular activities, etc— can all experience having suicidal ideations. Building connection in the school system and community simply elevates the level of support building a larger network of supportive individuals youth can turn to.
Building community and watching for signs of depression can help with suicide prevention. Continue to help children connect to our community and do not be afraid to ask– “Are you doing okay?” “Do you need any help?”.
A Friend Asks is an excellent App to help guide you through the process of gaining support for someone who may be suicidal.
A Counselor or School Therapist can help create a Safety Plan to help stabilize the student. Learn more about Safety Plans with Child Mind Institute.
If you are someone you know needs support, please reach out to 988 or a mental health professional.
*If you would like 988 signage please reach out to your School Therapist.
Now that we are a month into school, academic demands have started to ramp up which can be accompanied by student negative self talk. If you are noticing a child feeling discouraged or displaying negative self-talk read more here: Child Mind Institute provides help for kids who are too hard on themselves.
