Updated Native American Curriculum in Oregon
This January the first sets of lessons have been published on the ODE website. Click here to view the official ODE website which includes lesson plans and other resources for the new curriculum. The first set of curriculum is being created for 4th, 8th, and 10th grade with lessons in Language Arts, Social Sciences, Math, Science, and PE/Health. Eventually there will be lessons for PreK-12th grade available.
In Beaverton School District, we are sending staff to train-the-trainer events for the new curriculum hosted by ODE in March and April. We will be continuing to support teachers implementing the new curriculum and helping them update their current Native American units this school year. We are developing a plan and timeline for providing support and training for all teachers in the district who will be using this new curriculum.
Feel free to share this information with teachers and contact me if you have any questions or would like more information.
