Message from the Principal...
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with family and feasting. I am so thankful for the opportunity to serve you and your families.
This first half of year has come and gone in a flash...but not without lots of learning and laughs. As your child grows each year, new expectations for learning are set and supported within the classrooms. Students rise to the new expectations with a wide range of different supports. I encourage you to utilize parent access to view current grades. If you ever have a question, know that we are here to help in any way. Please reach out to your child's teacher and together we can provide the best learning.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child,
Malinda Stewart

Counselor's Corner
R.O.A.R. Character Education Program
R.O.A.R. stands for Respect, Optimism, Acceptance and Responsibility! This year, we will have a new way to dive deep into our character education at Wilkinson. Each month, we will have a specific “focus” for the month that helps students to dig a little deeper into ways they can show Respect, Optimism, Acceptance and Responsibility.
Here are all of the concepts we’ve learned so far this school year.
August: Self-Awareness
September: Being in Control
October: Decision Making
November: Problem Solving
In December, we will review ALL of these concepts and help students to understand how they are all connected. First, they learned how to be aware of their own thoughts, feelings and actions. Then, they learned what they can do to stay in control of those words and actions. The knowledge of these two skills is important to build the foundation for making positive decisions for themselves, understanding how their decisions can affect others and solving problems they encounter (on their own and with others).
Please take some time to talk to your students about what they’ve learned and how they can apply what they’ve learned at home and at school.
Christmas Assistance:
If your family is in need of assistance for Christmas time, please complete the form below. If resources are available, I will reach out to you with more information. Please keep an eye on your email, text messages, and voicemails to receive information. With some organizations, turnaround times may be quick, so a quick response from you, if needed, will be helpful.
21-22 Assistance Form <-- Click here!
Completing this form does not guarantee assistance, but it helps me to find possible resources available. If you've already completed this form at some point this school year, you do not need to complete it again.
Watch DOGS are back!!!!

Lunches:
We will be opening for a limited number of visitors during our lunches. We will use a Sign up to reserve (up to 2) visitors per student. We ask that you only sign up once every 3 weeks to allow for all families to share this opportunity. Please use this link to sign up for Lunch Visitors. We are going to start small, with one week published to be able to adapt and change things after the 1st week. After that, we will publish 3 weeks at a time. The link will be the same for the year and will be posted on our website for quick reference.

Make sure that you sign up under the correct grade level and date. We ask that you have no more than 2 visitors per student. If you have an extenuating circumstance, please call the front office and we will work with you! When signing up for two visitors, please sign each person up in a separate slot. We need to limit visitors to 6 adults total per grade level per day. We also ask that you sign up once per 3 week period so that every parent has an opportunity to sign up.
Referral Requests for Gifted and Talented Testing
Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January, referral requests are only accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or teachers. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Referrals will be accepted through December 17. All students will need to have a referral and parent survey submitted during this window (10-1-2021 to 12-17-2021). You may use the links below to access the forms, request a copy from the front office, or the assessment coach (Megan Caldwell). You can also find the referral form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.
