Lincoln Bulletin

BINGO Night is tonight from 6:00-8:00 please join families and staff for a fun time, there is food and Kona Ice to purchase. There will be many raffle items and silent auction baskets to bid on. This is fun for your whole family!

After school enrichment has been a success the past two weeks, many students have participated in a variety of activities including soccer, pillow making, cupcake decorating, candle making, and much much more. Thank you to Mrs. Moline for taking the time to organize these after school opportunities for our students.

This past Wednesday was our kindergarten registration. Registration continues to be open if you know of someone who will be of age to enter kindergarten this fall please have them come and complete the registration process.

Middle School Transfer Requests

Families who wish to submit Middle School Transfer requests may do so beginning February 3.

The request form will be available on the District 303 website through February 28. Families

must complete a separate form for each student they want transferred. Requests are granted

based on space available so siblings are not guaranteed placement. A written decision will be

communicated to families before spring break.

Once the request is approved, a student may remain at that middle school throughout his or her

middle school career, as long as the student resides in District 303.

Families of students granted permission to attend a school outside of their assigned attendance

are responsible for their own transportation.

Students will return to their assigned attendance area high school regardless of the middle

school attended.

One Book One School is coming to Lincoln

The Lincoln Elementary community

will be participating in a month-long special project,

an all-school book club called

One Book One School!

What this means:

  • We are revealing the book on Thursday, February 13th to all students. On this day, every family will receive a copy of the same book, a family letter, a bag of mystery items that go along with the book,, and a reading schedule to keep at home.

  • We invite your family to read the book together at home over the course of 5 weeks. It will be about a 30 minute time commitment each week.

  • Children of all grade levels will all be listening to their parents read the same book.

    • Strange or daring as that may seem, it actually makes educational sense. Children can easily comprehend text that is beyond a child’s own reading level when the work of reading the text is shared with a proficient reader.

    • We also believe that you can and should continue reading chapter books with your older children, even when they are able to read by themselves.

    • We selected a title that can be followed, understood, and enjoyed by younger students, but will also captivate and stimulate older children.

Our goal is to build a Community of Readers at our school. Everyone - students, parents, teachers, even administrative staff will all be following along together. We are personally asking you to make the time so that your family can participate in this fun and special activity!

FROM THE NURSE

The Dentist is Coming to Lincoln!

Great News! Lincoln has partnered with Smile Programs...the mobile dentists, to offer in-school dental care right here at Lincoln during the school day.

Even better, dental care is usually at no cost to you. All insurance is accepted including Medicaid and CHIP. For those without insurance, a low-cost self-pay option is available.

Forms were sent home last week. I've got more available in the Lincoln Health Office or sign your child up today at www.MySchoolDentist.com. Permission slips due now.
