Message from the Principal

Dear Central Road Families,

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday weekend with your family! Thank you to our families that attended parent-teacher conferences. I also appreciate all of the families that stopped by the MPR to complete the 5 Essentials survey.

During the holiday season, we often reflect on what we are thankful for in our lives. I am so fortunate to work with an excellent team of educators at Central Road. Staff members work diligently everyday, to ensure your child receives an excellent education. Expressing gratitude through a few kind words can make someone’s day. Please complete the Thank a Central Road Staff Member Form to share your kind words of thanks. Words of thanks go a long way! Messages will be delivered to staff prior to winter break.

Students in Grades 4-6 will be attending a Chicago Wolves game on Tuesday, December 17th. Students will learn how hockey relates to all subject areas. During the game, they will complete an interactive notebook that relates to math, science, language arts, reading, and social studies.

We will be hosting our annual PBIS Movie Night. This year, we have made an adjustment to the schedule, and will be holding the event right after school. We hope this change will still allow you to have some time to plan for the upcoming holiday or enjoy an early dinner out with friends. Students are invited to attend the event on Thursday, December 12th from 3:30-5:30. The cost is $10 per student and includes a healthy snack. The nutritional information for the snacks that will be provided are on the permission slip. All of the proceeds with go back to our students during the Wolfie Shop.

Let's make it a great week!

Warmest Regards,

Patti Van Winkle

Shop With a Rolling Meadows Cop Event

Esteemed community members,

The Rolling Meadows Police Department is proud to announce that for the 4th year in a row, we are excited to host our “Shop-With-A-Rolling Meadows-Cop” event. Our officers volunteer their time to make the upcoming Holiday Season a memorable one for the most disadvantaged children in Rolling Meadows. Unfortunately, there are surprisingly a large number of children in Rolling Meadows who feel the burden of their family’s financial strain due to difficult situations they’ve endured throughout the year. Some of these children do not expect many presents under their trees. So through our partnership with Walmart we want to help bring some holiday cheer to these families. But we need your help!

Walmart has graciously agreed to host and fund our program, but they have limited funding that they can designate to our program, and we have way too many families that we’d like to invite to participate. This is where we need your help. We are asking that those who are able to, please contribute by purchasing a Walmart gift card with any amount that you are able to and drop it off at our Police station. Our department will be collecting those gift card donations (no cash or checks please) until 12/6/19. Every little bit will help us expand the program to more families in need.

Please spread the word and if you have any questions feel free to contact our Social Services Outreach Specialist, Natalia Nieves, at 847-870-2636 or via email at

Thank you kindly,

The Rolling Meadows Police Department
