CSHS Weekly Bulletin
September 9-14, 2019
Start with Hello!
Dear Cougar Family,
We know that building strong relationships is paramount to our school climate and culture. When the world outside is shouting divisiveness and perpetuating an either/or mentality, our school is a place of "and" where students from all backgrounds come together as Cougars. As a staff, we have focused on implementing Relational and Restorative Practices as the foundation of forming these strong connections and building on them all year long (not just in the first days of school). This week, we'll host Alan Krenek (our NEDRP trainer) on Monday as he checks in to see the great things we are dong with this implementation.
In addition, our wonderful Student Council is focusing on their theme for the year "Celebrate Everyone Every Day" by taking part in Start with Hello Week, a national initiative from the Sandy Hook Promise organization. This program focuses on combatting social isolations by enabling "students to make a difference with their peers in a simple, fun, and impactful way by encouraging them to take small but powerful actions to promote connectedness and inclusion, and to identify and help others who are showing signs of social isolation." For more information, click here. Please be on the lookout for more information from StuCo with the activities for this week. Two activities for faculty are included in the Week in Review below.
May you all have a week full of saying "hello"! As always, COUGAR PRIDE!

P.S. Open House attire is either the new staff polo and dress slacks/skirts or professional wear.
Stop the Bleed Video for Advocates on Monday
Read the following script beforehand:
Today you will be watching a Stop the Bleed educational video to teach you basic life-saving measures including bleeding control. Tomorrow from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the LGI room, Stop The Bleed instructors from the Brazos Valley Regional Advisory Council, Baylor Scott & White and other community groups will be here providing free hands-on training if you would like to attend during your lunch time (or as an entire class in advocate). We encourage you to stop by and learn how to appropriately place a tourniquet and stuff a wound. After this training has been completed, Baylor Scott & White will donate Stop the Bleed kits to your school.
