Knox Middle School

November 2020

Welcome To November!

Hello Knox Families!

Welcome to Quarter 2!! How quickly Quarter 1 flew by!

We are excited to have hosted many virtual school events during October.

These events include:

ASB elections, Assembly guest speakers (5th grade Principals, Area Superintendent Mr. Bivins, Lincoln High School Principal and Head Counselor), an anti-bullying art contest and anti-bullying awareness month, Red Ribbon Zoom spirit week, multiple parent coffee sessions, and a drive-thru to celebrate our students with their Brag Tags!

Our students are getting the hang of navigating all of the supports available to them in online learning. It is important for our students to check their email daily and to use their planner. Students will have success in their classes if they plan out their day in a thoughtful way. Beyond attending Zoom, classes have assigned work that is to be done during the afternoon time, and submitted on Canvas/Google Classroom (asynchronous work). Every Saturday we have Zoom tutoring from 10-12pm. Students can get the Zoom code in their email.

Standards-based grading:

The new standards-based grading policy gives students the opportunity to revise and resubmit their work to improve their grade. Students can continue to master each standard through revision. Students are encouraged to submit work on time to allow for time to complete the revisions. Additionally, non-academic factors will no longer be part of academic grades.

Hello Knox Students & Families!

I wanted to take this time to introduce myself as the newest member of the Knox PrimeTime Family. My name is D’Jay Scott and I am the Site Coordinator!

A few highlights for the month of October. We had a very successful Game of Kahoot collaboration with Lincoln high school.

Ending the month of October we will have a drawing contest to see who can created the spookiest picture with a fall and Halloween theme and the winner of the contest will have earned a special prize!

Twice during the upcoming month of November, we will be having two watch parties for NFL games on a Monday or Thursday! During this watch party for those that are able to sign up in advance and attend, we will be ordering PIZZA for you and your family while we watch an NFL game online via zoom.

Guess what?? It’s not too late to sign up! The hyperlink below will take you to our Prime Time Website where will you be able to sign up for Afterschool virtual programming that is taking place Monday - Thursday 3p-6p.

Please take this time to sign up with us as it will reserve your spot for Prime Time once we return to in person learning.
