Dear Foothill Community,

As we enter the upcoming school year I am working forward with grace, patience, and a ‘can-do’ attitude. We as a community will be able to move through this together, with those focus points so that we can be successful in navigating the path ahead for your child/children.

Currently I do not have the daily schedule to share but I have a lot more to prepare you. While we assemble for the upcoming year it is important that multiple items are completed so your child is ready.

  • Text messages. If this is a preferred method of communication then we can meet that need! See below.

  • Residency Verification must be completed for all 6th graders, and new 7th and 8th grade students. See below for details.

  • Data Verification MUST be completed by ALL students. Please read below if you have not already logged into your HomeLink account for this year.

  • ALL 7th grade students must have proof of their immunizations on record. Regardless of beginning the year with Distance Learning, these are mandated by CA Law.

  • If you need a Chromebook, please complete this survey BEFORE your assigned Drive Thru time so we have enough devices prepared. (you must fill this survey out first).

  • Stay in the know with subscribing to the Online Foothill Directory run by our Parent Faculty Association (PFA) on Konstella.

School and District Information via Text Messaging

Our district-wide school messenger service is expanding to now include text messages. If you would like to receive text messages please text 'Y' or 'YES' to 67587. This is a great way to ensure you are receiving the most up to date information from Foothill MS. For more information, a flyer can be found here. Residency Verification for 6th grade and NEW 7th and 8th grade students must be completed in the office. Please come on Monday, August 3rd or Tuesday, August 4th, between 8-3:30.

Data Verification must be completed for each student. This ensures we have the most accurate information: parent/guardian contact information, medical information, and emergency contacts. This is completed in your HomeLink AERIES account: If there is a yellow banner like the image above then you need to update.

Please update and complete the Data Verification. Window opened on August 1st.

Online Directory: KONSTELLA

  • If you don't already have an account or haven't added your child to the Foothill Directory, go to

  • Click "Find Your School" in the upper right corner of the page.

  • Search for Foothill Middle School, select it and click Next.

  • Enter your name, email and child's name, then select your child's year of (high school) graduation and click Submit.

  • Admins will verify your information to add you and your child to Foothill

  • Help support Foothill and promote your business with an advertisement in the school directory.

      • If you know of someone who has a business to promote, this is an excellent way to reach more than 900 families in our community. There are multiple ad sizes available from full page to business card size.

Technology: Chromebooks and the internet

If your child will need a device to support them during Distance Learning we will need to prepare a Chromebook. Please submit your request here.

Bring a pen to sign the MDUSD Chromebook Take-Home Permission Form.

If you should need low-cost internet service or other such resources please go to this link on the District Technology website for assistance.

Immunization requirements

All student immunizations must be current to start the school year. Here are the requirements.

Senate Bill 277: On June 30, 2015, Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law a bill that says parents can no longer refuse to vaccinate their children in public or private schools based on their personal beliefs.

The HOW of our Drive Thru (aka Walk Thru)

  • All persons coming in contact with MDUSD staff members will need to wear a face covering or mask, in accordance with California State law.

  • All MDUSD staff assisting with textbooks and Chromebook distribution will wear a face covering, wear gloves when handling materials to be distributed, and have full access to hand sanitizer and/or hand washing station.

  • Upon entering the pathway, parents/guardians and students if accompanying will state their name to receive verification form with barcode to process checking out materials.

  • If 7th and 8th grade students have their ID card from the 2019-2020 school year, please bring it to expedite the process.

  • Math levels in 7th and 8th grade have been determined by a matrix of multiple measures designed by the District. Our classes are impacted and can only accommodate those predetermined. If you have any questions please follow up with an email after Walk Through.

  • We are limiting the number of persons for the process for maximum safety of all. Please attend during your assigned window of time.

  • Students do not need to attend.

  • Please bring a pen in case you should need to sign anything. We will have some available as needed, and will sanitize between use.

  • IF you are unable to attend we will have limited time available the following week. However, teacher/staff training will be occurring so we will need to schedule times for this. NO information for times and days are available yet. Please wait until next Monday for updated information.

Article on preparing your children for remote instruction

This article provides some valuable points to assist in setting up a space for their learning as well as other strategies.

Remember to take a picture on the first day of school, August 17, 2020. This will be a memory not forgotten but memorable and important to document.

Free Community Meals will continue at Foothill MS
