History is All Around Us--Go Back to Move Forward!

History is constantly being made all around us, in various ways. However, for some, history is merely a load of facts or dates from the past with stories of people who they don't understand. In contrast, the Sankofa principle, originally used by the Akan people of Ghana, teaches us the importance of going back to our past to build a better future. The picture shown in this section is a symbol for this theory and is studied around the world.

This edition of the Ram-ily Connection aims to use this principle to connect the past and current change-makers in Black History. Please take a moment to read about their contributions to history in the next section. We hope that it has a lasting impact this month and EVERY MONTH.

Student Attendance

All students are expected to be present Mon.-Fri. from 8:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. Attendance will be taken daily, so please encourage your child to attend all classes promptly. Attendance on Intervention Wednesday's is required, not optional. If your child will be absent, please contact the school to inform the attendance secretary prior to the absence if possible. Her email address is fshelby@rgsd.k12.mo.us or call 314-869-4700 ext. 22158 to report your child's absence. If your child's absence is due to technology issues, please mention this when you contact the extension provided.

RGSD Breakfast & Lunch Pick Up

Students can pick up breakfast and lunch daily at their assigned bus stop and at certain school locations Monday-Friday from 10:30 a.m.- 1:10 p.m. Click on the button below for more details.

Virtual Day & Schedule

All students will begin the school day promptly at 8:30 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. The virtual bell schedule and the updated A/B day calendar are attached below.

Matrix of Expectations for Virtual Learning

RGHS continues to promote positive behavior and academic success as students learn virtually. We expect our students to be safe, responsible, and respectful as they navigate through their virtual classes daily. Although they may face challenges and may become frustrated during virtual instruction, please encourage them to follow the guidelines provided in the matrix below.

Technology Update & Support

If your scholar has not received a Chromebook for the 2020-2021 academic year and currently has an iPad, please come to the high school campus Mon.-Fri. from 9:00 am-1:00 pm to exchange devices. When you arrive, let the Welcome Center guard know that you are here to see Mr. Clark for technology. Students who have already received a Chromebook will not be issued a replacement device or charger. If you have any additional questions or concerns please contact us at 314-869-4700.

Class Schedule and Grade Checks

Tyler SIS 360

Parents and students can view class schedules/grades by clicking here. Student's username is their lunch pin and their password is their 6-digit birthdate (ex.091619 --Sept. 16, 2019). Parents create their own username (email address) and password.

Youth Empowerment Program Application DUE DATE

Friday, Feb. 12th, 8am

The Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) is for St. Louis youth in grades nine through twelve to acquire awareness, training, and engagement as community leaders; to recognize critical needs and issues; to learn how to develop and implement plans to address those needs and issues through policy; and to acquire the skills and support to improve their well-being and resiliency.
