Happy Chinese New Year 2023
On Jan, 23, Monday, Monomoy Regional High School twenty-seven students went to the Middle School to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
High school students helped the middle school students make dumplings. Dumpling in Chinese New Year means good luck and wealth for the new year. It also represents the transition from last year's zodiac animal to this year's by using the homophonic.
We all practiced calligraphy using a special Chinese brush. We made the character 福 (fu) which means good fortune, blessing, and happiness.
As another part of our celebration, we sang a Chinese song as well as head shoulders knees, and toes in Chinese.
Another thing we did was Tai Chi. The middle schoolers were very inspired to learn it after watching us. We are so glad that our schools are joined together in the love for Chinese culture and New Year.
Chinese New Year started on January 22nd and will end February 5th. It lasts 15 days!
MRHS National Chinese Honor Society decorated the school for Lunar New Year!

Weekly Athletics Roundup: Week of January 23rd, 2023
Boys Hockey: Mitchell Silva
Boys hockey lost a tough game to Nantucket on Wednesday. We knew it was going to be tough, and unfortunately, the game didn't go in our favor. Freshman goalie Dominic Silvester started his first Varsity game and came out ready to play. Everyone is very proud of how he played, regardless of the score. We have a few tough games ahead of us, with Nauset being on Saturday, Bourne on Wednesday of next week, Greater New Bedford, and Nantucket again. We are looking to turn around this season while also establishing a strong base for future years in the program.
Girls Hockey: Morgan Willis
This past week, the Furies have had a great couple of games. On Saturday, we played against Nantucket and beat them 9-1. We also played against Martha’s Vineyard on Wednesday, and we also beat them 4-1. Everyone worked hard and played great!! Upcoming games include 1/28 against Sandwich at Charles Moore Arena @ 5:15.
