From Mrs. Younce

Math: Today we started Lesson 6.5- Adding and Subtracting Mixed numbers. Our learning this week will include time for practice as well as multiplying fractions in lesson 6.7.

Social Studies: The Washington maps look great! We will finish painting and hopefully label them this week. (See the pictures below to see part of the process.) After that they will come home for you to enjoy at home!

From Mrs. Johnson

Reading: This week we are reviewing the skill of identifying the main idea and details in fiction and non-fiction writing in order to strengthen our comprehension of the text. We will then move on to using the main idea and details to write a concise summary of the text.

Writing: Students have gone through a lengthy process to prepare for writing their informational books and that anticipated moment has finally arrived! Most students have finished writing their introduction and met with a partner today in order to share ideas for improving each other’s writing. We will continue writing our books for the next couple of weeks and hope to finish them right after spring break.

Home-School Connection

Your child now has access to RAZ kids at home. This is a resource that provides students with reading comprehension practice using online texts at their level. This is a great way for students to meet their homework reading minutes each week. You can use this link to access the login page. The students also know how to find it on Mrs. Younce's Links for Learning page. Students in the green class need to put in TJohnson49 in the teacher username box. If students are in the blue class they need to put mmorlock0 in the teacher username box. Students should use their school password to log on.

Report Cards

Report cards will be coming home this Friday with your child. Please also look for graded writing and math work that will be accompanying it.
