NEWTOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS MAKE AN IMPACT WITH UNLESS PROJECT
For three years running, students in Mrs. Meltzer's 8th grade class have worked to enter the UNLESS project. Held since 2012, the UNLESS Project is sponsored by the Albert M. Greenfield Foundation to influence the Philadelphia area to conserve and develop healthy, eco-friendly habits. Mrs. Meltzer's class focused on reducing the use of single-use plastic bags and straws. On Friday, April 5, the class met with State Representative Wendi Thomas to learn how their idea might become legislation or a resolution in the hope that their outreach will move them to place in the contest yet again.
