This is a great location to find all the information you will need. Links and information are available here for students, volunteers, and the community. With our new Directors starting this year, we will add and update information and details about them. This is a great place to find fun photos, past memories, and all the details on the Boosters.
What do we need with all that money?
If you have seen one of our plays, you know the sets are unique and elaborate. Everything is built by the students, sometimes even the furniture, or we refurbish existing furniture. Lumber, nails, glue, paint, brushes, and other materials must be purchased. Our students make costumes, and the more elaborate ones (like Captain Hook) are rented. Material and elements added to costumes, wigs, and shoes must often be purchased. Students gain experience by learning to build, sew, and create for each show.
Did you know that each play has royalty fees that must be paid to use the script - sometimes per performance. Depending on the show and its popularity, this can be a very substantial cost. We also provide simple meals to the students the week before plays when rehearsals run late into the night. Concessions must be purchased for each show to help us earn money and provide you with refreshments during intermission. Sometimes, special equipment must be rented, like the rigging for Peter Pan. Making magic happen is a costly thing!
An essential part of the Theatre Department is educating our students. There is an annual Thespian event over a weekend at the Gaylord Texan. Students go to workshops for hands-on learning and expanding their theatre experience. We want to make that available to all our students, even if their families can't afford the fees to attend. Donations make that possible. We can also provide field trips for the students, and at the end of the year, some Seniors will receive college scholarships.
Theatre is a fun environment for our students to learn and grow. But many of the students you see on stage and the tech students you don't see behind the stage plan to make this their career. We can offer them a great start to their future with the help of funds we receive. Thank you all for every dollar. It makes what we do possible, and we really do appreciate it!
Your donations also show our students that what they do matters because of the community's and local businesses' financial support. Seeing a packed auditorium is a huge encouragement that their months of preparations and practice were worth it. Thank you for being part of our program!
