Morning Message

June 3, 2020

School Parade TODAY! We hope to see you today.

As we close out the school year, we would like to see your smiling faces and cheerful voices! In an effort to be together as best we can, the Sacred Heart Catholic School staff invite you to pack your SHCS Rams in the car and drive down Hubbard Ave. on Wednesday, June 3rd from 5:00-6:00 pm.

Students are encouraged to wear SHCS spirit wear, make a sign or two, and parade by to see teachers and staff. We will be standing in front of the school, keeping our social distancing of 6 feet. We ask that you start the line at 37th and Hubbard Ave. and travel north down Hubbard towards church/school.

It would be helpful to follow this schedule with family last names, if at all possible:

A-G 5:00 pm

H-M 5:15 pm

N-S 5:30 pm

T-Z 5:45 pm

All students and family members will remain in their vehicles in order to follow safe distancing guidelines.

We hope it will be an uplifting moment of joy for all as we wrap up the school year.

We still have yearbooks. If you would like to purchase a yearbook at the parade, we will have them available. Please have a check or the exact change.

1st Day School Supplies

Hey Parents,

There will be a 1st Day of School Next year! Have you visited yet to purchase your child’s back to school kit? I am so happy our school has partnered with them, especially right now. This year get all your school supplies RISK free from the safety and comfort of your own home.

On top of that they are offering up all the accessories we need including Vera Bradley, JanSport, and Under Armour backpacks, lunch boxes and water bottles! So this year avoid the "germy" experience of back to school shopping at retailers and shop online with confidence knowing you are getting the exact supplies your teacher requested.

Grading for Trimester 3

We made some adjustments to Trimester 3 grading due to online learning. The teachers and I realize that online learning has been difficult for the students and parents for many reasons. Teachers are not able to give their usual assessments during this time.

Note: Specialists include Spanish, music, art, technology, and physical education.

Grades for K-2

Teachers will be giving “Pass” or “No Credit” for all subjects: math, language arts, science, religion.

Specialists: Students will receive a "P" for Passing.

Grades for 3-4

Teachers will use standard-based grading for core subjects such as math, language arts, science, social studies and religion. Scoring will be 4 = Exceeds Standard, 3 = Meets Standard, 2 = Partially Meets Standard, 1 = Below Standard, N/A = Not assessed at this time, or N/C for No Credit.

Specialists: Students will receive a "P" for Passing.

Grades for 5-8

Students will receive letter grades for core subjects such as math, reading, language arts, science, social studies and religion.
