Miller Memo

October 12, 2022 Edition

Miller Career and Technology students and parents,

The fall holiday season is upon us - Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are all coming soon. This is such an exciting but busy time of the year. Please read below for a few campus updates, initiatives, and reminders.

Miller's Monster Mash Reminder

MCTC is hosting it's second-annual Miller's Monster Mash for the Katy ISD community. Young children and their parents are invited to explore our building while going on a "treasure hunt" for free candy. Kids are never too young to learn what we have to offer!

Our students will be volunteering during the night, helping families navigate the building and complete activities in different rooms. Our students are also encouraged to donate bags of candy if able for the event. Please see the flyer below for more information and feel free to share it with friends and family.

PM Parent Pick-up Change next Tuesday, October 18th

Next Tuesday, October 18th Katy ISD will be hosting the annual UIL Marching Band Contest at our district stadiums. This will impact parent pick-up after 7th period only. Instead of parent traffic being directed to exit to Katy-Fort Bend, all parent traffic will be redirected to exit on Katyland along with our student traffic. Please plan for a longer wait time to exit our campus complex. We will continue with our normal traffic patterns on Wednesday.

NEW - EPIC² Student Award Winners - September

At the end of September, we were able to surprise our first EPIC² Student Award winners. These students were nominated by their teachers for displaying our EPIC² (Empowerment, Professionalism, Integrity, Commitment, Curiosity) core values and serving as role models for their peers. Congratulations!

NEW - Adulting 101 Series Continued

Last week's after school Adulting 101 session on Basic Auto Care was such a success! Our student attendees left with valuable life skills and resources. Thank you to our Automotive teachers and student volunteers for taking the lead. On Wednesday, November 16th, Miller will host our second after school session on device care, cyber safety, and general street law knowledge. Please scan the QR code on the flyer below to register for a spot!

She has taken the lead on our Adulting 101 series for our campus, and doing such a fabulous job with this new role.
