Islam is a monotheistic faith regarded as revealed through Muhammad as the prophet of Allah. The followers of this religion are called Muslims and they follow the teachings of their holy book, the Qur'an. There are Five Pillars of Islam that are central to the religion: the declaration of faith, daily prayer, giving, fasting during the month of Ramadan and pilgrimage to Mecca. Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar and is a time when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. Mecca is a city in Saudi Arabia. It is considered the holiest city in Islam and also has the largest mosque. Mosques are the buildings where Muslims worship Allah. Worshippers must not wear shoes into the prayer hall of the mosque and women must cover their heads with a hijab. Imams lead the prayer in a mosque. The most common religious figure of Islam is Abraham.

Muslims are required to pray 5 times a day, facing the holy city of Mecca. It is one of the 5 pillars of Islam.
