Collective Kitchen - Learning to Cook
Back in Dec 2015, IA established a collective kitchen which is facilitated and managed by our SIL program. The group goes over cooking safety and best practices in order to help teach independent cooking skills. The collective kitchen also provides an excellent opportunity to meet new people and forge new relationships while learning a new skill.
Next week the collective kitchen group will be making Tuna and Sweet Corn Patties and Carrot Cake! Yummy!
If you are interested in learning how to cook, please email info@ia2010inc.ca and we will put you in touch with the SIL team.
PDD Safety Standards Consultation
The Minister of Human Services repealed the PDD Safety Standards Regulation on March 31, 2016. The Regulation is no longer in effect.
Next Steps – Consultation Phase Two
In May 2016 – The Consultation Team will begin Phase Two of consultation with stakeholders – including individuals with developmental disabilities – to explore solutions on safety that support the personal choices, privacy, priorities and needs of the disability community. Stay tuned for more information about Phase Two.
Save on Utilities!
IA has started an awareness and education initiative around the usage of utilities this spring. These are some of the things are are doing to help save money:
- Switching to compact florescent and LED lighting.
- Turning off computer, lights, TVs and other appliances when they aren't being used.
- Don't overuse dryers – hang clothes to dry whenever possible.
