When Adults Don't Read, Kids Lose
It's SUMMER! Time to rest, relax, try a new adventure, and enjoy a good book (or two, or three or 20)! We all know how important it is for kids to read during the summer to prevent the ever-present Summer Slide, but for teachers it's equally important. Reading is proven to: reduce stress, keep your brain young, boost your vocabulary, and improve empathy. When teachers read, they are more likely to share that life with their students and, in turn, grow readers among the students. For more information on growing authentic reading lives among your students, please read the following blog by Jennifer LaGarde...When Adults Don't Read, Kids Lose.
I hope you will join me in the Summer Reading Challenge this summer and help me share the love of reading with our students!
