Welcome Back
It was a wonderful first week of school, and I've enjoyed getting to know your children. We are working on developing and maintaining our school family by building positive relationships, teaching strategies to deal with overwhelming emotions and conflict resolution. The class took a pre-assessment in math, and we will begin teaching content next week-so start to look for math homework. ELA was also introduced, and we read Thank You, Mr. Falker. Students have already completed several science experiments, and have been using the Think, Write, Pair, Share method to collect their thinking. It's going to be an exciting year!
Media Release Info
Students were given a front/back explanation of the district's media release policy. As of right now, only about 7 students in class have permission to be photographed (including for the yearbook) or have names in programs (band/music concerts, etc.). The district feels that the information was not presented clearly, and so they sent out the form that went home today. Please mark 'Yes' if you will allow your child to be photographed this year, or 'No' if you would not like them photographed, and return it to school on Monday. Please email me if you have any questions about this.
Donations Needed
The library is home to one of Hillcrest STEAM Academy's "Makerspaces." This center is open to students during library book checkout, and uses household and craft materials for students to explore and create. If you have any unneeded craft supplies, ribbon, wrapping paper, bows, paper or any other materials, please send them in and we'll put them in the Makerspace. Thank you!
