The Manning Weekly Newsletter
August 23, 2019
Dear Families,
We made it through our first full week! If your children are tired after school today, that's a good thing - they should be! They are on the go all day long, and as you can see in some pictures, our teachers keep them busy. We are proud of how inventive our teachers are with their lesson plans as they create activities centered around our Colorado Academic Standards, which are fun and engaging for our middle school students.
We hope to see all of you at our Back to School Night next week. Until then, have a great weekend.

We Encourage You to Not Idle
Message from the PTA
The Manning PTA welcomes you all back for a new school year! We are looking forward to seeing families from last year and are excited to meet many new families as well. Our mission as the Manning PTA is to support the excellent teaching we are so fortunate to have by providing funds both for educational needs in the classrooms and supporting our teachers and staff with occasional meals during their busiest weeks. The primary ways we earn money for these is through our beginning of the year parent contributions and Fall Fest, a fun evening for parents with a chili cookoff and silent auction.
We ask each family to donate $100 each year if feasible. Donations can be written via check at Back to School Night or made at manningpta.org/donate/. We are genuinely grateful for any amount. Thank you to those families who have already contributed generously!
In addition to financial support, we are seeking a few volunteers to help with the following activities:
- Reflections (a national PTA art contest) https://www.pta.org/home/programs/reflections
- Teacher Appreciation Week (in May)
- Battle of the Books
- 8th grade picnic (last day of school)
- Continuation
If you have any questions, please look for us at Back-to-School night next week on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, or email us at manningmiddlepta@gmail.com.

Europe Trip 2020
All current 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are invited to participate in an educational tour of London, Paris, and Rome in the summer of 2020. Over 9 powerful, impactful days in the summer of 2020, Manning students will have the chance to bring their classrooms to life. They will experience the sights, sounds, tastes, languages (or interesting accents), and cultures of these iconic European cities. Through it all, our multi-lingual Tour Director will be with us, supporting our students’ learning and highlighting each breakthrough moment. Students who partake in this opportunity will grow their social skills, connect to their studies outside of the classroom, and set themselves apart when applying to college and their future careers. In addition, high school course credit is available for current 6th and 7th graders, and college course credit is also available for current 7th graders.
We can’t wait to see our Manning students…
● Engage with a world beyond their classrooms and local community.
● Step outside of their comfort zones and experience new foods, cultures, and people.
● Receive an experience that will help them stand out on college or job applications.
