Mason Moose Minutes February 18
Teamwork it is! One Mason, One Family, One Team!
Message from the Principal
Dearest Mason Families,
Happy Friday and Happy Snow Day!
I hope you are staying warm, yet taking some time to enjoy the snow outside with your dear student(s)!
Throughout this past week, the Mason team continued to take pride in the various activities that students were a part of in recognition of Black History Month! Students participated in class read alouds honoring significant African American leaders, some researched and presented their projects on chosen African American role models, others participated in a kindness reads activity reading about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, and creating a wreath/collage with their many hands reflecting the many dreams that our dear students have, united as one!
With the Midwinter break next week, kindly know there is no school from Monday, February 21 through Friday, February 25, 2022. School will resume on Monday, February 28. As we forge our way toward the month of March, the Mason team prepares to incorporate National Reading Month and National Women's Month activities within the school day learning! Students will be engaged in a school-wide read aloud in each classroom reading, The Magical Yet. On Wednesday, March 2nd, we will be participating in National Read Across America Day reading A Bad Case of Stripes, by David Shannon and The Snowy Day, by Ezra Jack Keats. Students may choose to come to school and participate in one of the following!
* Be like Camilla Cream and wear stripes.
* Be like Harry Potter and wear a scarf.
* Be like Fancy Nancy and dress up.
* Be like Peter and wear red.
I hope everyone has a wonderful break filled with much laughter and fun! Teamwork it is! Together we learn, together we lift, and together we lead! If you need anything, please feel free to contact me via email at Hassana@gpschools.org or (313) 432-4404.
Mrs. Anita Hassan

Morning Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
* Students should not be playing at the playground in the morning or on the blacktop. Please kindly remind your student.
* Please do not double park on Charlevoix Rd, Anita Rd, or in the school parking lot. Additionally, kindly do not park in the handicap parking spaces unless you are authorized to do so.
* Additionally, during morning arrival, let us try to park in the parking spots which tend to be available if you intend to walk your child to the blacktop, and please DO NOT PARK in the drop off circle so that it indeed is a drop off circle for all students to be dropped off safely.
Winter Playground Procedures/Rules
Snow is here!!! Please remember our students do go outside twice a day for recess. It is important that they are dressed appropriately, hat, gloves, coat, snow pants and boots. Kindly know that in order for students to play on the playground/woodchips/field they need to HAVE snow pants and boots on. If they do not have boots or snow pants on, they will have to stay on the blacktop. Please find these Winter Playground Procedures/Rules to review with your student at home.
If you are in need of a winter jacket and need some support, please contact the main office as we do have some winter jackets to share with students in need.
