A Message From The Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We finished another amazing week at EBE. Our outstanding fifth grade safeties have spent the last several weeks in training and are now on full patrol. I never get bored of seeing the 12-student trains at dismissal featuring a fifth grade locomotive, a fifth grade caboose, and with 10 little kindergarten trains occupying the middle. Speaking of kindergarten, after a month of practice, they fully know the lay of the land. We now see them all over the building! Nice job kindergarten team! We also saw many cougar slips the week, a tangible indication that our students are hard at work and doing a fabulous job of following rules and expectations. This attention to detail, self-awareness, and sense of community gives us tremendous hope for an outstanding year.

Seasonal Changes

Now that chill has infiltrated the air, please be mindful that students may need to dress a little warmer. We have had a few bouts of student sickness over the past couple of weeks; we want to try to make our environment as healthy and germ-free as possibly.

Curriculum Update

We launched our English and Language Arts curriculum, Schoolwide, three years ago. We have spent the better part of those three years focusing on the reading aspect of the program, and all indications, as measured by district assessment, show us that we have made above average progress. Now that we have a handle on the reading, we will implement the writing phase of the program. You may notice your child engaging in more writing assignments as part of this curriculum. As with anything involving our students, please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher if you have additional questions.

We have a lot to look forward to over the next several months. Our teachers are focused and dedicated to the continued academic, social and emotional advancement of our students, and our students are highly engaged and motivated learners. As the principal, I am poised for lots of 2019-20 successes. As I always say, none of this would be possible without the tremendous support of the EBE community and we thank you. If you have any questions or concerns please know that our doors are always open.
