Ms. Collodora's News
Here's what's hip-hop and happening in our room! Week 35
Spelling
This week we practiced st and sk beginning blends.
Reading and Writing
Our fiction unit is up and I am so proud of our writers! We had kiddos writing FULL PAGES in their notebook! Each line filled! We even had time to share some out loud and we laughed as one of our friends wrote about Martin Luther King Jr. and his underwear! :)
Math
Subtraction strategies are done and set! We reviewed all the strategies we know about subtraction and fact families as we flew through this unit (with problem up to 18). We tested on Friday and will start our graphing unit on Monday! This one is FUN FUN FUN!
Science and Engineering
We also started our last engineering unit: hand pollinators. Since we learned all about insects, we took it one step further and learned about pollination. We have 4 "fake" flowers that the students will need to engineer a hand pollinator for that will successfully pick up and drop off pollen (also known as baking soda) :)
