Jag-A-Thon/Fun Run
Thank you to all of our JAE families for helping to make this an incredibly successful fall fundraiser. We are excited to announce the total that you raised and the plans for how the money will be spent.
Using Boosterthon was new for us this year, but it was a positive change. The daily character programs for the students were inspirational, but they were also entertaining and STEM-related. The students and staff quickly grew to love the Boosterthon team, and I think we were all sad to say goodbye to them.
Cardboard Challenge Family Night
CARDBOARD CHALLENGE FAMILY NIGHT
This will be the third year for Jack Anderson Elementary to participate in the Cardboard Challenge. The first year, the students built arcade games with inspiration from Caine Monroy. "9-year-old Caine Monroy spent his summer vacation building an elaborate cardboard arcade inside his dad’s used auto parts store. The entire summer went by, and he never had a single customer. But Caine didn’t give up." Watch this video, and I guarantee that you will be inspired, too! Cain's Arcade Video
Last year we moved away from arcade games and adapted the challenge so it would be standards-based. By including elements from Social Studies, ELA, Math, and Science, students were able to connect content areas to their cardboard creations.
We are inviting our families to experience our students' creations this year. Please join us on November 5th between 5-7:00 p.m. to see how learning has come to life as our amazing students share their knowledge.
