The Sophomore
Casting Call
Soft Light Productions is looking for talent to cast in a humorous but thoughtful short film set in a college environment.
The film, titled The Sophomore, is about a tragically average college student who struggles to find purpose in life amidst an underwhelming avalanche of mediocrity.
The project is unpaid but meals are provided.
We are currently seeking non-union actors for the following parts:
- The protagonist, an observant, introverted college sophomore who is searching for a direction in life but doesn’t know where to start.
Morgan (female, 18-22 years old)
- Matt’s girlfriend, also a college student. A kind and fun-loving girl.
Rochelle (male or female, 22-30 years old)
- A fairly young T.A. of an introductory acting course, a calm and confident individual.
Carlton White (Male, 50s)
- A dull Career Center employee who gives a PowerPoint presentation at a resumé workshop.
Various students
-Male and female, 18-30 years old. Both speaking and non-speaking roles.
Audition Times
Wednesday, January 15th
- 12:00 pm-4:00 pm
- 5:00 pm-6:00 pm
- 3:30 pm-6:00 pm

*Sides of the script will be provided for cold reads during auditions. No prepared monologue is required.
*Shooting begins in the month of February in the Athens, Georgia area.
