Deadlines
Most states have registration deadlines
- Most states fall between 20-30 days
- North Carolina requires registration 25 days before election
The Absentee Ballot
The Absentee Ballot is for citizens who can't get to the polls on Election Day due to the military, being oversees, or out of state registration.
New Voter ID Requirements
Some state have passed a Voter ID law where people are required to show some kind of personal identification in order to vote. Since 2016, 34 states have passed these Voter ID laws. By passing these laws, the government can prevent voter impersonation and can assure that a single voter votes only once.
If your state have photo ID laws, you must bring one of these as identification:
- Driver's License
- US Passport
- State ID Card
- Military Identification Card
- Tribal ID Card
If your state have non photo ID laws, you must bring one of these as identification:
- Bank Statement
- Rent or Mortgage agreement
- Utility Bill
