Pepper Drive Family News

September 10, 2021

Pepper Drive will lose funding if we do not have this information regarding household income for each student at our school. Your information is kept confidential and is not even visible to school personnel. 15 questions will likely take 5 minutes.

The District and our school receive funding each year that is partially based on counts of students who qualify for free/reduced priced meals. Since all lunches are free this year, we will lose funding without this information. You can help our school and District to obtain additional funding by filling out the Annual Family Information Form. One form is needed for each child enrolled in the District. Completion of this form can also help you to obtain lower cost services from certain other service providers such as Cox Cable. Please take a few minutes to click on the link and complete the Annual Family Information Form for each of your children attending District schools. It's only 14 questions long and it helps our school a lot. We appreciate you taking the time to complete this.

COVID-19 Information

Every time there is a positive case identified on campus, I will be sending you a General/Courtesy Notice via email. You will be contacted directly by phone if your child is identified as a Close Contact. If you receive a call from our school office notifying you that your child has been identified as a Close Contact, you will be referred to the Quarantine Instructions Table (see below) to discuss your options for quarantine.

Waiting on a Test?

If you or anyone in your home is waiting on a COVID Test or believes they have Covid-19, PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL until a negative test is received. I cannot stress this enough. The actions of every household affect what happens at school. It is better to keep a child home from school until you are sure they are not Covid+ or a close contact.

Interested in getting a COVID test? Here are some locations.

Parking Lot/Driving Reminders

Please remember not to block the school driveway or crosswalks when driving to campus. Also, we have had reports of cars speeding on Marlinda or running the red light on Pepper Drive. Please help keep our children safe.

TIGER Expectations Focus: Playground

This coming week, we will focus on what the T.I.G.E.R. expectations look and sound like on the playground. Ask your student to explain how we can show Teamwork, Integrity, Goals, Empathy, and Responsibility on the playground. Students have started earning Tiger Paw tickets when they are seen exemplifying these traits. These tickets are used in our weekly raffle drawings as well as being applied to classroom incentives.

Disturbing TikTok Trend

There is a disturbing trend circulating the internet encouraging kids to destroy school property or steal random objects from school. Vandalism is not acceptable for any reason. Being a part of a school community means treating the school building and belongings with respect. This week, we saw some destructive behaviors in our school bathrooms. Please encourage your child to say something to an adult if he/she ever sees this kind of behavior in action. It is everyone's job to keep our campus safe and productive.
