WEEKLY OVERVIEW
Tēnā koutou katoa,
It's hard to believe that the last week of school is almost upon us and that we have entered the season of Advent. It seems as if we are all running to the finish line, with many wonderful activities taking place in our kura, and next week will be no exception!
The Advent season is a four-week period before Christmas that celebrates the anticipation and coming of Jesus Christ. Advent serves as an invitation to take our minds off the year's stresses. We can shift our focus from the crazy hustle that can be associated with Christmas to focus our thoughts on the gift God has given us in his son Jesus. I hope that you will take the time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas in the upcoming weeks.
Our senior students have finished their NCEA exams and we congratulate them on they way they conducted themselves during a time that can be quite stressful for some. We wish our senior students a blessed and restful break - you've definitely earned it, team!
To our junior students, there is one week to go! Let's end the year on a high note, enjoying the final week of the term before relaxing into the summer break with our whānau.

SAINT EDMUND CAMPION FEAST DAY 2022
On Thursday, we celebrated the feast day of Saint Edmund Campion. Our celebrations began with Mass at St Mary, Star of the Sea, followed by a fantastic shared feast of hangi. One of our Year 7 & 8 modules, Around the Globe, planned and carried out the hangi, and we were all able to share this fantastic kai. We spent the afternoon out on the field playing games and having fun. Campion College certainly celebrated this important feast day in style!
FROM THE CAREERS DEPARTMENT
Last week, a three day interactive programme was organised for our Year 10’s to share, experience, grow, and challenge themselves around who they are, their values, opportunities, team work, communication and resilience. Over the first two days, we had a variety of speakers with activities on site, working in both large and small groups. Some of the guests we had were the Defence Force who ran team building and communication activities with the students. We were also joined by Inspiring Futures - “Inspiring the Future”, learning about different jobs and why people love doing them, as well as pathways and the challenges faced along the way. The Gisborne Volunteer Centre shared information about volunteering and the many ways we can strengthen our community through volunteering. The students also learned about Health and Safety in the workplace and how important this is for everyone
The final day was spent off site at EIT. Students selected two areas of interest which they got to experience over the day. EIT loved how enthusiastic our students were and commended their excellent attitudes and behaviour. Thank you to Mrs Haggard and Mrs Peard for organising the programme and to all the providers who added so much value to our students' learning.
YEAR 7 & 8 MARKET DAY
It was fantastic to see so many whānau members joining us on Friday evening for Market Day. The standard of items for sale this year was extremely high and our tamariki should be proud of their efforts. Thank you to all those who supported the market day and gave so generously. We will give you an update in next week's letter to tell you how much money we raised.
