Language Arts- Mrs. Murphy
Starting next week in Language Arts, students will be reading Feed by M.T. Anderson. This futuristic, dystopian novel will help us explore our big Unit 3 Essential Question even further: "What role should ethical considerations play in the advancement of technology?" Talk to your student about this text at home!
Please feel free to e-mail me at any time with any questions or concerns. I am happy to help!
Mrs. Murphy
Science-Mr. Hastings
Thanks for checking into team nine.
We are almost done with our genetics unit. The highlight of this upcoming week will be when we invite a biochemist into our classroom to share her experiences. her name is Danielle Kerkovich and she will be video chatting with our students on Wednesday. She is the lead scientists for a program called beyond batten disease and will be an invaluable resource for our kiddo to utilize. We will invite her in with a technology called NEPRIS that USD 475 has purchased for educators.
After we finish up Genetics on Wednesday we will begin to study the human body and then the health unit is just around the corner!
Some great questions to ask your students this week might be.
What is genetic engineering?
Are you worried about eating GMO food?
Do you think that we should eat organic food?
Are broccoli, cauliflower, and brussell sprouts really all from the same plant?
Here to serve,
Mr. Hastings
US History- Mr. Janner
We have on approaching 80% about John Brown. Students will analyze primary and secondary sources in order to answer the question, "Was John Brown a patriot or a terrorist?" Other than that, most of our 80% assignments for this 6 weeks will be during our Civil War Unit, which will last about a month.
I look forward to seeing you at conferences in the next few weeks!
