Scotch Elementary School Receives a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase SchoolsTM Award
We are honored and truly excited to announce that we have received a Capturing Kids’ HeartsⓇ National Showcase Schools award for the 2019 - 2020 school year from the Flippen Group. This is the third year in a row that Scotch School has received this honor.
Four years ago, we began an initiative to transform our campus into an emotionally safe and relationally connected place for students, staff, and parents to come together with a love for learning. Capturing Kids’ Hearts is a process that builds and strengthens relationships with students. This process provides a consistent framework throughout the school where all teachers and students feel a connection with one another, creating a sense family.
Through the Capturing Kids’ HeartsⓇ National Showcase Schools awards, the Flippen Group recognizes and celebrates schools that go the extra mile each day, building an environment where students and staff feel safe and connected. The Flippen Group is proud to recognize the outstanding teachers, staff and administrators who have dedicated themselves to making a difference in the lives of our children. They believe the unsung heroes who produce exemplary outcomes in schools and pave the way for other schools to follow need and deserve recognition for a job well done. Please celebrate with us on becoming a Capturing Kids’ HeartsⓇ National Showcase School again this year!
Celebrate our Staff!
Continue to stay connected by celebrating Virtual Spirit Week with us. The school building may be closed, but we can still show our school spirit. We will be celebrating Staff Appreciation this week. I would like to take this moment to thank the entire Scotch Staff for all the hard work they have put in to this extraordinary year. Each and every one of them is incredible. Please take a moment and have your student reach out to their teacher and affirm their hard work and dedication. Continue to share your student/s photos so we can post them in our weekly newsletter and show off our school spirit!

NETIQUTTE
When anyone engages online, it's essential that everyone behaves appropriately. West Bloomfield students and staff must comply with the Student Code of Conduct and Staff Handbook when it comes to communicating online. As a quick reminder, when you're online, be sure to:
- Use respectful behavior and language.
- Stick to appropriate topic discussions.
- Send only appropriate video transmissions.
- Use only appropriate icon, emoji, and avatar submissions.
- Wear school appropriate clothing if you are attending meetings via video.
- Be honest and do not plagiarize or copy others’ work -- in other words, use academic integrity.
- Not falsify information about yourself or impersonate others online.
When everyone remembers to act kindly, show consideration for others, and treat one another online as you wish to be treated in person, we'll all be able to focus on learning.
