Home "Sweet" Homecoming ~ Spirit Week
Let's help support Homecoming in the HS this next week with some fun dress up days for spirit week. Their theme this year is Home "Sweet" Homecoming - with the focus on different types of candy.
Monday, September 18 - Babe Ruth (favorite ball team)
Tuesday, September 19 - Jolly RANCHER (Cowboy/Cowgirl Day)
Wednesday, September 20 - Starburst (K=yellow 1=blue 2=orange 3=red 4=pink)
Thursday, September 21 - Lifesavers (Police, Doctors, Lifeguards, etc.)
Friday, September 22 - Falcon Friday - Green/White
Join us on Friday, September 22nd for the parade. All guests are welcome to watch the parade with their children as it passes in front of the elementary. Students will then be escorted to the HS gym with their class to be a part of the Homecoming Assembly which immediately follows the parade. Families are welcome to attend the assembly as well.
Humble and Kind - Quarterly Service Projects - Mitchell Elementary
As I shared in last week's newsletter, Blair Oaks Elementary has adopted a school in Texas that was impacted by Hurricane Harvey. I have been in contact with the principal and counselor at Mitchell Elementary School in Houston, Texas. Initially they were not able to assess the damage because of the flooding; however, the water has receded and unfortunately they have lost everything. Their teachers are creating a wish list to get a better idea of specific needs. If you would like to contribute to this extraordinary cause, to get started, we are asking that each grade level donate the designated items. (No specific size, color, or style necessary for the items below - anything you find or happen to have is acceptable).
K - crayons, markers, one subject notebooks
1 - highlighters, paperclips, two-pocket folders, Clorox wipes
2 - post-it pads, pencils, pens
3 - tape, tape dispensers, glue, Kleenex
4 - clipboards, construction paper, scissors (adult or student)
We are also selling "Choose Kind" Falcon shirts. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Mitchell Elementary. Order forms will be sent home the first of next week. Orders will be due Friday, October 6th.
Special Note from the Counselor at Mitchell Elementary ~
Community is such an important concept to teach, and the fact that your children have come together to help a group of people that they don't even know speaks volumes about them and their school leaders. Let me just add, we are extremely grateful for the outpouring of love that you are bestowing on us.
