Tips for Chromebooks- #124
- Print it out and make a little book for those students who need it. Go to File ---> "print settings and preview" ---> choose how many slide decks you want on each paper.
- Present it on the projector and show the whole class step-by-step how to add the accessibility feature.
- Cut it out ---> laminate ---> and tape on student's desks. If you choose to tape it on a student's desks, I would recommend to tape it on several desks to make it inclusive as not to single-out the students.

Screencastify
Don't forget, we have a district-site license for Screencastify.
Screencastify is a Chrome browser extension that records your screen/desktop or webcam (face). To use Screencastify, find its icon in the Chrome toolbar and choose among the recording options: record a single tab in your web browser, capture all screen activity, or use your webcam to record a video of yourself.

Screencastify Editor Tool
The editor text tool is more flexible. The new text tool allows you to resize text boxes, the ability to add multiple text boxes, and adjust text attributes with the new sidebar. The new sidebar allows you to add italics, bold, and underline to your text; change background color, adjust the alignment, and adjust the size and font of your overlay text. Click here for more information.
ScreencastifySubmit
ScreencastifySubmit allows students to record on a device without having to add an extension or application. Click here for more information.
Tips for Using Screencastify
- A video should not be longer than 5 minutes.
- Create a QR code to use in your classroom for rotations. After recording the video, click share ---> QR code.
- Don't forget to put your videos into folders for organization. This will help tremendously at the end of the year when it's time to clean up our technology.
Ideas in the Classroom
- Language Learning- Language teachers use screen recording videos to model pronunciation, language exercises, and interactive language learning activities.
- Data Visualization- Screen recordings can be used to explain complex data visualizations and infographics, helping students interpret and analyze information effectively.
- Flipped Learning Content- As part of the flipped classroom model, teachers can record screen videos presenting key content and lessons for students to watch outside of class, freeing up class time for discussions and activities.
- Feedback on Assignments- Teachers can provide personalized feedback on students' projects, offering a more clear, detailed, and visual assessment. It also conveys body language and tone of voice more clearly.
- Share Video Libraries- Each teacher can create a library of content and share with peers or new teachers.
- Digital Storytelling and Presentations- Students can use screen recording videos to create digital storytelling projects, narrate presentations, and showcase their work.
- Student-Led Teaching- Encouraging students to create screen recording videos to teach their peers about specific topics can foster peer-to-peer learning and strengthen their understanding of the subject matter.
