Walt Disney

The Dream Maker

Walt Disney is an animation expert who makes kids' dreams come alive...

He was born on December 5, 1905 in Hermosa, Chicago Illinois. He lived in Marceline Missouri on a Farm until he was 10 years old. At that house, he was inspired to draw when he took tar and drew horses on the side of his white house. His parents, Elias and Flora Call Disney, were not very happy. He grew up with three brothers and one sister: Roy, Raymond, Ruth Flora and Herbert Disney. They all lived on the farm and rode pigs and had fun. He then moved to Kansas City to become a newsboy. He did that for awhile and soon became an adult.

In the 1920s, he made a company named Laugh-O-Gram Studios that made cartoons starting with cartoons called Alice Comedies which are small little short cartoons about Alice’s journey through Wonderland with no sound except music. He then came up with a new less known cartoon named Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. But he was starting to have problems with the company, money...

One fantastic day, Walt came up with an amazing character, Mickey Mouse. He worked with his company and made the first cartoon with voices Steamboat Willie, Mickey’s first cartoon. It was a hit! This started an amazing future of animation. He made the first ever cartoon with color Silly Symphonies, and then created the first ever animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. But Mr.Disney had more ideas in hand...

He decided to make something even bigger than anything before, an amusement park named Disneyland, featuring every cartoon he ever made. He made it and was big hit! He later decided to make another one in Orlando, Florida that’s more than Disneyland will ever be, Disney World... He went right to construction. But something happened that will change Disney forever...

Lung cancer. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1966. He died later that year at 65 years old on December 15. The park wasn’t finished and everybody was depressed. But his brother Roy, finished the park in his name with a memorable statue in the middle of the park with Walt walking with Mickey Mouse named ¨Partners¨. The Walt Disney company still thrives with movies and cartoon that makes kids happy.

Walt has gave kids happiness during sad times. Brought them up when they were down. Walt Disney has left a lasting legacy that will give children joy even at adult ages. Walt will always leave joy in our hearts through joy and happiness...
