A Note From the Principal
Good Morning River Hawk Families,
Thank you for your continued support this week with the state CAASPP Testing. Except for students that need make-up testing we are done! Make-up testing is important for us to complete, as any student that doesn't finish penalizes our scoring. Please assist us if your student needs to complete testing by having them at school. Counselors are trying to avoid pulling from academic classes. We are grateful for your help!
The final weeks are in sight and our teachers have worked tirelessly all year to help our 7th graders through the transition from elementary to junior high and have them ready for the demands and expectations of 8th grade. Likewise, our 8th grade teachers have worked diligently to prepare them for the academic rigor of high school and teach our 8th graders to be proactive about asking questions and approaching teachers on their own, to increase the self-advocacy skills needed in high school. This coming week is Teacher Appreciation Week and California's Day of the Teacher is on Wednesday, May 10th. Please take a moment this weekend to have your student prepare a note, card, or email to send this week, thanking their teachers and sharing their favorite moment with each teacher this year. We always take this opportunity to appreciate all of our staff, so consider expanding those thank you's to our classroom support staff, a campus supervisor, someone in the office or a custodian that has been helpful or made a positive difference in your student's time at Rio Norte! And thank you in advance to ASB and our PTSA parents for everything you've been planning in order to spoil our staff!

ASB Needs YOU!
ASB is extending their School Supply Drive until Friday, May 12th because donations have been very minimal. Our ASB students shared that they see their teachers give out so many supplies to students that unintentionally "walk off" and don't come back. Once teachers have exceeded their budget, supplies often come out of their own pocket. So they decided to fill their teachers' rooms in preparation for next year! Any donations can be dropped off to room B-4 before school, during brunch, lunch, or after school.
Common supplies given are:
Pencils, pens, erasers, comp books, lab books, 70 or 100 page spiral notebooks, pop-up and regular sticky notes, dry erase markers (mostly black and blue), lined 3 ring notebook paper, and notecards (colored or white).
All donations will stay here at Rio Norte for our students!
ASB Thanks You!
