Revised School Calendar
Delayed Start/Snow Day
The district may choose to implement a two-hour delay to the start of the school day in the case of inclement weather (snow, ice, extreme cold, etc.). It’s not anticipated that a delayed start will occur often, but it does provide an additional option to ensure a productive school environment, while maintaining safe conditions for all staff, students, and parents.
This decision will be announced no later than 6:30 a.m. on the day of the delayed start via School Messenger system as well as local TV stations.
On these days, buses will run and morning pick up times will be two hours later than normal. Classes will begin two hours later than their regularly scheduled time. There will be no morning Early Childhood or Bright Futures classes, but the afternoon classes will run at the normal time. School will still dismiss at the regular time.
Pack the Place
Pack the Place 2019 is Saturday, Feb. 9 at Dunlap High School. Pack the Place is an annual fundraiser intended to bring together students from all district schools to cheer on the Dunlap Eagles. This year's theme is the Wild West. The event kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with the sophomore basketball game. The varsity game begins at 6:30 p.m. There will be food, a silent auction, 50/50 drawing, and a gift card raffle. All themed proceeds benefit the DHS Parents' Association. Entrance to the game is free if you are wearing a Pack the Place t-shirt! Order t-shirts for your family today by going to https://dunlap.martinonesource.com/dunlap_apparel/shop/home.
Recess
Please make sure your child is prepared and dressed appropriately for outside recess. Students will go outside for recess anytime the temperature is 15 degrees or above (including wind chill). Parents cannot request that students stay inside based solely on the temperature. It is important for the students to get outside and play when possible during the winter months.
Any child who is exempt from physical education for medical reasons will not be allowed to participate in outdoor recess activities. Re-injury on the playground could occur. Arrangements for indoor recess in the main office or a supervised classroom will be made for these students.

Box Tops
Make a difference for our school! Please clip Box Tops coupons – each one is worth 10¢ for our school! Box Tops can be found on hundreds of quality products from brands like these: • General Mills • Ziploc® • Pillsbury® • Kleenex® • Betty Crocker® • Hefty® See the attachment for a complete list of participating brands and to learn more about how you can help our school.
February is Box Top collection month, hopefully you have a stash you've been collecting over the holidays! Hickory Grove Elementary received over $800 from Box Tops for Education for the Box Tops collected in October!
HERE ARE 3 EASY STEPS TO TURN IN BOX TOPS:
#1 Check the expiration dates on your Box Tops. If they're expired, don't send them to school, because they can't accept expired Box Tops.
#2 Box Tops don't have to be trimmed perfectly…but if you want to save your Coordinator's sanity, please don't send them with half the product package still attached. When it comes to Box Tops, snip 'em or rip 'em! Just make sure the expiration date and full product code are both visible.
#3 Send your Box Tops to school in an envelope or baggie.
The deadline to turn in Box Tops is February 22.
