Located between two rivers, the Noguera Pallaresa and Noguera Ribagorzana, limiting the north and south by the mountain ranges of Montsec and Montclús, appears, like a fortress, the town of Àger. In the top of the villa we can find the collegiate St. Pere and the castle, dating from the eleventh century. A Roman gate of the second century, a road and a sarcophagus from the same period, kept in the church of San Vincente is also preserved.
There are also a lot of small chapels that can be visited on the route of the hermitages and find up to eight of them, from different periods, between the eleventh and seventeenth centuries. You can also make the route of the unique and old trees, where we can see a great diversity of native species. Finally, the compelling itinerary: the historic route of the town of Ager.
The Ager privileged natural space allows all types of activities from various historical routes to water activities (kayak, canoe, boat, etc.), to hiking, mountain- bike routes, archery, air activities (paragliding, hang gliding, aviation ...), caving, climbing, etc.
Furthermore, this sky is also a privileged location from which to observe "the best sky in Catalonia", it literally opens the door to heaven and make a trip to the stars.
Indeed, Montsec, is the place of Catalonia with the darkest sky, and declared “Starlight Reserve”, a distinction enjoyed by only two places in the world: the Canary Island of La Palma and the lake Tekapo in New Zealand
At the Center for Observation of the Universe, travelers have several really interesting spaces on astrophysics. The main building, houses the permanent exhibition (the Big Bang, the formation of galaxies, black holes, planets ...), classrooms where workshops and other fields such as geology and fauna can be done. The so-called “Eye of Montsec” is a multimedia and digital planetarium that invites the traveler to see heaven, from this and other era, and feature films projected on a dome of 12 meters in diameter.
