A Lighthearted Look About How Punctuation Can Change Meaning

With the school emphasis on WITsi, Writing is Thinking With Strategic Inquiry, look at this humorous blog about misused punctuation. For more details and strategies for using WITsi in your classes, read this newsletter. Many examples are in this google drive folder.

Assessment Drives Instruction

Kahoot! is a game based learning program for interactive quizzes and surveys. Several English teachers I shared it with are using it with their classes with much success!

For regents review in US History, Calculus AB, World History and Biology I recommend GETAFIVE.com. Several students I know have used the site to prepare for the AP. I would also recommend it for regents prep. Each video is only five minutes and is followed by review questions.

Summer Fun

Take advantage of the many free events around NYC this summer. Alan Gilbert is conducting West Side Story in Cunningham Park on Monday, June 22nd. For the complete schedule of concerts this summer check the NY Philharmonic Web Site. Don't forget Shakespeare in the Park is currently playing in Central Park. This year's productions are The Tempest and Cymbeline. You can even win virtual tickets online. More information available at The Public Theater website.
