Optimistic October
A Park Village teacher shared this with our staff, and we thought our school community would also benefit from a bit of optimism. Let's all walk into fall happier and kinder, together.
Does your child speak multiple languages?
Students who speak multiple languages encounter varying experiences in educational settings. Come hear how PV supports students as they learn English, while encouraging the growth and development of the child's native language.
Halloween Costumes
Don't forget...
No weapons. knives, guns, or batons are not permitted at school. If your child does have these items, they will be removed and returned at the end of the day
No costumes that depict violence, alcohol, or drugs
No masks, face coverings, or face paint. Students' faces must be visible throughout the school day
No costumes that could be offensive. i.e., a stereotype of someone’s culture, gender, heritage, or religion
No inflatable costume
Halloween is a fun tradition for many, however it is not a holiday celebrated by everyone for various reasons, and we want to honor that. Please be respectful of those who do not wish to participate in Halloween activities. We also ask that you save your scary costumes for the evening, sending your child in attire that will not “scare or spook” our young students. Students wearing questionable costumes will be asked to change into appropriate school attire.
Let's All go to the Movies
PVF Movie Night is Friday, October 13. We will be showing a movie under the stars on the back playground. Families are invited to begin seating at 6 PM with the movie starting around 7 PM when it's dark. Please watch the weather forecast and dress accordingly and bring jackets and/or blankets to stay warm. We will be on the blacktop so chairs are recommended. We will have a taco stand and Kona Ice there available for purchase, as well as movie snacks. You are welcome to bring your own food and drink. Movie Night admission is free to all Park Village Elementary students and their families. Book fair will be open as well and will be the last night to browse and purchase books. All students should be accompanied by a parent or guardian - this is not a drop-off event.
If you're interested in volunteering to help to make this an awesome event, whether it's purchasing food prior, set up, or serving snacks, please see the sign-up link below. Dads, moms, older siblings, family members, caregivers or high school students needing volunteer hours are all welcome to sign-up.

Hispanic Heritage Month
September 15 to October 15
Please join Park Village and PUSD in paying tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society. Together we celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. Beginning in 1968, Hispanic Heritage Month was originally observed as “Hispanic Heritage Week, but it was later extended to a month in 1988. Since then, HHM has been celebrated nationwide through festivals, art shows, conferences, community gatherings, and much more.
This year’s theme is Building Prosperous and Healthy Communities. Building upon the theme each week focuses on how the Administration has been supporting the Latino community:
Week of October 3rd: Education and Investing in HSIs
Week of October 10th: Mental Health and Wellness
October 15: Last Day of Hispanic Heritage Month
