FERRI MONTHLY
November 2019
An Important Message from Mr. Tsonos...
I am writing to inform you of an important change that will be occurring as of Monday, November 4th. It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing that Rebecca Silveira, our Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction, will be moving on. Mrs. Silveira has taken a position in the Barrington School Department.
In her time here, Ms. Silveira has been an integral part of our Administrative team and, more importantly, a huge part of our "Ferri Family." She has worked hard to improve curriculum and instruction, RICAS scores, increase parental engagement, and build lasting relationships with parents, students, faculty, staff, and the larger community. Although we are very sad to see her move on we are also happy to see her grow. On behalf of Nicholas A. Ferri Middle school, I would like to congratulate Ms. Silveira on her new position and wish her nothing but good things moving forward. Ms. Silveira will certainly be missed but she will leave a lasting impression on our school. Good Luck, Ms. Silveira. You will always be a Jaguar!

We would like to congratulate the students and teachers for their hard work on last years RICAS testing. When we received our results Ferri Middle School increased the number of students that were proficient in ELA by 15.6% (Among the top 10 schools with improvement of proficiency in the state).
Keep up the GREAT work!!
Math and Reading Ramp Up program
Just a reminder there will be no ramp up November 21st for parent conferences and December 2nd for a faculty meeting.
The last day of the Fall Ramp Up program will be December 19th.
Attendance Matters!
Please ensure your student is in school every day and on time to promote academic success!
Based on the student handbook, students that are tardy 3 times will receive a 2 hour detention. We will begin counting tardies on October 1st.
We appreciate your help to get students to school on time.
Starting in October, we will be using the Attendance Nudge, a tool from the RI Department of Education. Parents will receive notification regarding student absences informing them of the amount of school students have missed compared to other students in their grade.
It is essential that students attend school everyday!
