Kickoff Keynote: Gabriella Meyers
Gabriella Meyers is part of the Education Development team at Apple, working with school leaders to leverage technology to transform learning. Prior to joining Apple, she spent 23 years as a classroom teacher, technology coach, district administrator, and higher education adjunct faculty member. Gabriella holds a BA in teaching, a Masters in Educational Leadership, and certification in Brain Research in Education.

It is extremely important that you evaluate whether any new and old software contains any Adobe Flash-based content!!!
Important Dates:
July 2019 - Flash will be disabled by default, but can be enabled in Settings at which point explicit permission is still required for each site when the browser is restarted.
Dec 2020 - Flash support/ capability will be removed from Chrome.

It's that time of year again. Please share this with graduating Seniors!
This is primarily for graduating seniors and any other students who will not be enrolled in the district next school year since access to their district Google accounts will be permanently suspended beginning this August, 2019.
As a reminder, all district Google account holders, including students, are able to transfer copies of their documents and emails to a non-district* Google Account and/or download their data.

New Gmail Feature: Schedule Send
What's New with Google Sheets
Remove duplicates:
A highly requested feature, you can use this tool to easily remove duplicate values from your sheet, saving you time by eliminating the need to write an app script or manually remove duplicate data.
Trim Whitespace:
Sometimes when you add data to a sheet, it may not be the format you need. Now, you can easily keep your sheet standardized by using the trim whitespace feature to remove any leading, trailing, or excessive whitespace from a cell or array of data.Click here for more information.
PD Opportunities
Coding and Drones
The REMC Association of Michigan is excited to provide this FREE training opportunity for teachers across the state. Through hands-on activities, participants in this one-day training will learn to use DroneBlocks along with Tello drones through a design thinking challenge. No drone or coding experience will be needed for educators to learn the basics of bringing coding & drones to their classroom.
Participants will:
Learn to fly Tello Drones!
Learn to use Droneblocks coding to program drones
Receive a Tello Drone Combo Kit, and their corresponding REMC will receive two Tello Drone Combo Kits to add to their Maker Kit checkout. (NOTE: Participants representing ISDs WILL NOT receive a separate kit in addition to the two to be added to their REMC's Maker Kit.)
Receive curriculum resources to assist with successful implementation in the classroom.

REMC Apple Professional Learning Series 2019
The REMC Apple Professional Learning Series 2019 offers educators a variety of learning opportunities where you can learn how to teach code, discover the Everyone Can Create program, or find out how to use the iPad to strengthen foundational literacy skills in your students. There is no cost for the sessions and SCECHs are free. Lunch is provided each day.
All sessions are 2 days in length. You may register for one, two or three sessions across the three locations.

Kent ISD/REMC 8, August 6 & 7
- Everyone Can Create - Ignite Creativity with iPad (K-12)

Washtenaw ISD/REMC 16, August 14 & 15:

Mi Open Book Social Studies Workshop
This two-day event is designed for teachers using the Mi Open Textbook in their social studies classroom. Teachers will identify gaps or needs in their curriculum, then find or create additional OER to fill those gaps and needs. They will be grouped and working with teachers that use the same Mi Open Textbook.
Location: Calhoun Intermediate School District
Dates: June 18 (Tuesday) and June 19 (Wednesday)
Times: 9:00-3:00
Cost: FREE for REMC 12E Members
$20 for non-REMC12E Members

Enjoy your Summer Break! Relax & learn with REMC’s Virtual Courses
Seven courses are offered in June and begin on Monday, June 3. Deadline for registration is Friday, May 31. Each course is open for three weeks and consists of two (2) one-hour webinars and four (4) to eight (8) hours of resource review, assessment developments and written reflection. SCECHs are available, ranging from 6 - 10, depending on the course.
