Still fresh in the minds of many was Germany's crushing defeat fifteen years earlier during World War I, and Germans needed confidence in their weak government, known as the Weimar Republic.
HITLER PROMISED GERMANY'S
Hitler’s promise of strong government and stability was widely supported principally by industrialists, who were frightened of the left wing unions and communism. Many People supported Hitler because he promised them what they wanted and needed to hear.
People in Germany were drained of their poor quality of life. Hitler promised to make Germany proud again - it was exactly what people wanted to hear. Hitler promised something for every part of Germany society.
Hitler used his own skills of discussion to appeal to the nationalism of the German people by promising to break free of the restrictions of the Treaty of Versailles. His aim of ending the payment of reparations was especially popular.
Hitler’s plans to re-arm Germany were also popular. By recruiting a large army and building a whole new navy and air force, he would be able to reduce unemployment. With so many people out of work, this was an engaging prospect.
Germany’s economy was in such a poor state that Hitler’s promise of strong government and stability was widely supported and not least by manufacturers. By attacking Jews in the world of business, Hitler appealed to their non-Jewish rivals.
