Happy 2018!
Program Planning Studio Time
Here is an important update on our task of completing 2018-19 programming proposals. DSS leadership team created a set of instructions, links, and deadlines for all of us to follow. Please see below. You will also see we have created 4 STUDIO TIMES for you to drop in if you are seeking collegial dialogue, feedback, etc. on your program proposals. At least one supervisor will be at each of these sessions. I hope one or more of these times will work with your calendar if some STUDIO TIME might be helpful to you. No need to sign up; just drop in.
2018-2019 Program Planning Instructions
How To Steps:
1. Consultants should place completed 2018-2019 program planning sheets in the 2018-2019 Programming Folder, using the 2018-2019 Program Planning Template. Consultants will need to make a copy of the template. Files should be named according to the following naming convention: Program Team Name-Program Name-Lead Consultant Last Name, ex: Cultures of Thinking-Cultures of Thinking Foundations-Childs.
Additional instructions and help can be found in the second tab in the template.
2. Program planning sheets are due by February 20, 8:30AM.
3. DSS Leadership will meet on March 2, 2018, to review all submitted program planning sheets. At the end of this day, DSS Leadership will notify lead consultants to submit a budget request for all approved programs by March 20. Budget requests should be placed in either the Workshop or Operational Folder within the 2018-2019 Budget Folder.
DSS Leadership is hosting program planning Studio Times to provide consultants with time to experiment, question, wonder, and work collaboratively to complete program planning sheets.
The schedule of Studio Times is as follows:
· February 1st, 2018 - 9:00AM to 12:00PM - Conference Room B
· February 6th, 2018 - 1:00PM to 4:00PM - Room 335

Timetracker
Please let me know if you are running into any issues with TimeTracker. At this point everyone should have their time up to date. I will start running some samples at the end of this week to see what the data looks like for our team when I pull the report.
As we are thinking of ways to be more supportive of the currently reality of districts...
Greetings Oakland Schools Colleagues,
Our superintendent has indicated in recent communications we must reduce our absences from the district in those areas that we have control, specifically conferences/workshops and school business. While professional learning is valued, absences from the classroom are problematic for several reasons, chief of which is the shortage of substitute teachers. Thus, we will not be able to participate in the Oakland Schools Council meetings for the remainder of the year. I have encouraged our teachers to reach out to you--the council leaders--after a meeting has occurred and request the notes/presentations in order that they can keep abreast of new mandates, ideas, etc. and continue to share those with their colleagues.
Thank you for your understanding and for your unwavering commitment to all students.
warmly,
Kristy
