Summer Reading Program Begins June 14
“Exercise your Mind and Read!” is our theme this year for our Summer Reading Program. Beginning June 14, ages 0-17 are welcome to join our reading challenges, activities, and free special events. Summer Reading will feature cool prizes, Harry Potter themed activities, Silly Saturdays, Special Presentations by a Steel Drum Musician and Comedy Magician, Robot Workshop, and our Final Summer Reading Celebration with ice cream and lawn games. Sign up on or after June 14 and receive a Summer Reading packet and calendar. All activities and events are free.

"Cache in Concrete" Returns
Cache in Concrete returns with a whole new look and a new Challenge. You might recognize the design. The town map was drawn years ago by local artist, Don Smith, and modified for our purposes.
Come explore the local Concrete area, on this outdoor, self-guided adventure! Fun for the whole family. Pick up a Cache in Concrete map at the library and participating businesses. Complete the Cache Challenge and win a souvenir prize. Available now and continues all summer long.

Directions:
1. Pick up a Cache in Concrete handout and follow the clues to find 10 hidden signs around town.
2. On each sign, you'll find the answer to a historical question about Concrete.
3. On each sign, you'll also find the answer to a Cache Challenge Riddle.
4. Bring your completed Cache Challenge sheet to a participating business for a souvenir prize!
Microclimate Presentation June 25
The Nitty Gritty of Garden Microclimate
Speaker: Sheri Hunter, Master Gardener/Author
June 25, 3:30 – 5pm, Concrete Center
Join us for a special presentation on microclimate. Sheri Hunter, a Master Gardener and author from Skagit County, will share how weather and climate affect gardens region wide and how the characteristics of backyard environments generate microclimates. Come away with a clearer understanding of a microclimate and how to garden according to this specific region in the upper Skagit.
